Pilar Corrias Volunteer Internships

Pilar Corrias offers full-time & part-time volunteer internships.

Conditions of internship:
Minimum commitment of three months required, 2-3 days per week
Hours: 10 am – 6 pm
Travel and lunch expenses will be reimbursed.

The internship will start with an orientation of the gallery’s structure and gather experience in the following duties:

General Administration Tasks
· General filing and gallery administration
· Collecting post from Princess House reception
· Printing and photocopying
· Ordering stationary, office, kitchen, cleaner supplies
· Handling inbound and outbound couriers, packages and post
· Updating events and upcoming exhibitions on calendar
· Preparing offer documents on behalf of the sales team
· Entering and updating contacts onto the Database and mailing list post art fairs, from the gallery book and as emailed from Artist Liaisons and Directors
· Assist with image archiving: saving all images on the server in exhibition or artwork folders and informing all staff when images of external exhibitions have been received
· Assist with packing and preparation for art fairs – making artwork labels, packing books/stationary/business cards
· Assist registrar with stock checking and database consistency
· Assist with making artist packs for Artist Liaisons and Directors

Front of House Duties
· Answering the phone and directing call to the gallery team
· Answering the door and welcoming visitors
· Responding to public enquiries
· Maintaining FOH desk information – press releases, work lists, exhibition book and gallery maps on the front desk
· Manage the gallery Info and Subscription email accounts, respond to enquiries and forward on requests to other staff members for gallery artists where appropriate
· Managing the mailing list (front desk book and emails through subscribe)

Press Department
· Assist with managing the gallery’s social media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter  – announcing exhibitions, art fairs, events & press relating to the gallery and artists
· Assist with sourcing, scanning and archiving press articles – filing exhibition information, creating PDFs of all articles and were possible collecting hard copies
· Updating artist biographies and CVs for the gallery archives and website
· Research artist’s external exhibitions and update archives
· Inform press listings of all exhibitions

Exhibitions and Installation
· Assist registrar with production – obtaining quotes, research etc
· Assist with private views and ordering taxis for guests/staff to following dinner or party
· Order drinks and ice for private views and set these up prior to opening when instructed
· Assist with obtaining quotes for post-private view events (dinner or party)

Basic requirements
Fluent spoken and written English
Computer literate (MS office, particularly Microsoft Word, Excel, and Adobe Photoshop & Indesign)
Knowledge and interest in Contemporary art, a graduate in Art History, Fine Art, or Museum studies is preferable.
Previous work experience
A level of flexibility
Good interpersonal skills
