28° INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL- MARSEILLE: RIRKRIT TIRAVANIJA'S KARL'S PERFECT DAY

World Premiere of Rirkrit Tiravanija’s Karl’s Perfect Day at the 28th International Film Festival Marseille.

The ideal day of Karl is a film that does not betray its title in the form of a program. It is a question, literally, of this and that: to follow, in a Warholian gesture, Karl Holmqvist, a Swedish poet living in Berlin, from his rise to his bedtime, and in his various and small activities of the day. Brushing your teeth, taking care of your plants, watering them but also reading poetry, walking around by bike, dressing up at the whim of finds, finding a friend, visiting the house of Hannah Höch, etc. If it is clear in many details that Karl has decided to bend the daily demands to the pitch of the utopia he has chosen and it is also clear that he needed the qualities of a herbarian To accurately and delicately capture each of these decisions. This is what Rirkirt Tiravanija is achieving for his second film: to weave a film in which art and life circulate with the same intensity, discreet, almost invisible as everything here refuses to speak louder, including the moment Of a performance-concert with the great musician Arto Lindsay, where an elephant, says Karl, keeps giving way to a telephone. It was necessary to an artist another artist to unveil it in this challenge of ordinary happiness.
