Charles Avery in conversation with Oliver Basciano at DRAF – David Roberts Art Foundation

Charles Avery discusses his work with writer Oliver Basciano, on the occasion of his exhibition Study #15. Untitled (The Ninth Resort) at DRAF.
Avery has since 2005 dedicated his practice to ‘The Island’, an epic fiction, whose geography and anthropology are intricately conceived and revealed through his diverse works. As well as drawing and texts, Avery produces objects, posters, furniture and jewellery that substantiate the Island. Although rooted in his own upbringing on the Scottish island Mull, the landscape, architecture and anthropology of The Island are evolved through diverse mathematical and philosophical systems.
Basciano is an art critic based in London. Since 2009 he has worked at ArtReview where he is now Editor (International). He also regularly writes for the Guardian and Spike Art Quarterly and has contributed texts to various artists’ monographs.
This event is free and no booking required.
