John Skoog at Sven-Harry's Art Museum, Stockholm

John Skoog’s film Shadowland will be included in the exhibition SWEDISH ART: NOW!, the first ever comprehensive exhibition to present the new generation of Swedish contemporary art – from established such as Klara Lidén, Nathalie Djurberg and Cajsa von Zeipel to newer names such as Anna Uddenberg,  Emanuel Röhss and Dimen Abdulla.

The exhibition, which opens Stockholm Art Week 2016, will be contemporarenous, but also forward-looking. With an aim to present the most relevant works of art made in the last five years by artists active in a Swedish context, the exhibition consists of loans, new works and site-specific works thatvary in media (sculpture, painting, installation, video and performance).

Together with an ambitious publication, a series of lectures and wide-ranging digital engagement,  SWEDISH ART: NOW! will bring forth, visualise and clarify the who, what, and why of the Swedish contemporary art scene. It will also highlight how contemporary Swedish art relates to other creative expressions such as design, fashion, technology and food, and ask questions such as, can you talk about a success story when it comes to Swedish art? What is its platform? How is it ultimately expressed?

SWEDISH ART:NOW! speaks to local and international audience of all ages, to art and culture enthusiasts, and to a curious general public. Everyone will have that “wow” expereince and be introduced to this holistic treatment of Sweden’s contemporary art scene and its artists.
