The 57^th International Art Exhibition, titled VIVA ARTE VIVA and curated by Christine Macel, is organized by La Biennale di Venezia. Open to the public from 13^th May to 26^th November 2017, the exhibition offers a route that unfolds over the course of nine chapters or families of artists, beginning with two introductory realms in the Central Pavilion, followed by another seven across the Arsenale through the Giardino delle Vergini. Macel’s vision for VIVA ARTE VIVA is that it be made with, by, and for artists, emphasizing the artist’s role in mediating contemporary society. 120 artists are invited from 51 countries, and 103 of these are participating for the first time.
