Opening in March 2014, the Von der Heydt-Kunsthalle in Wuppertal, Germany will hold a significant solo exhibition of Sabine Mortiz’s work. Around 40 works by Moritz are included in the show, including both early drawings as well as her paintings over recent years. In the later paintings subjects of war, such as ships, helicopters, can be seen and exude a deceptive silence. Many of the war works were painted from photographs and subjective reactions, the images evoke a feeling of melancholy.
