Ulla von Brandenburg’s Shadowplay, Mirrorsong, Chorspiel, and The Street, will be screened as part of the 2014 International Conference on Philosophy and Film, Thinking Reality and Time Through Film, hosted at the Centro de Filosofia da Universidade de Lisboa. The conference seeks to examine the last two decades of film to understand film as philosophizing. Questioning, can we access specific, reliable knowledge of the world and our relation to it through the aesthetic form of moving images? Furthermore, considering film’s claim of continuity with the world – what is the essence of film and what is exactly it’s connection with reality?
