Rachel Rose at Fundação de Serralves, Porto

‘Contemporary Projects: Rachel Rose’ presents two recent works by the New York-based artist, Everything and More, 2015 (HD video; 10’31”) and A Minute Ago, 2014 (HD video, 10’31”). A Minute Ago collages footage of an abrupt apocalyptic storm in Siberia with the artist’s own footage of Philip Johnson’s iconic Glass House. Relating two apparently unconnected events, Rose’s work unfolds with a multi-layered interconnection of time, space, and ecology. Everything and More, originates in the experience of an astronaut’s body in outer space, blending footage of research in a four-story-deep pool with robots simulating the daily tasks of astronauts in space, and Rose’s abstract representations of models of physical complexity and the infinite.

‘Contemporary Projects: Rachel Rose’ is organized by the Serralves Museum of Contemporary Art and is curated by João Ribas, Deputy Director and Senior Curator of the Museum assisted by curator Filipa Loureiro.
